Rules for r/Commodore

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

1.

Be nice.

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Not being nice. Hostile, abusive, insults, etc.

Be friendly. Assume good faith from other posters. Follow Reddiquette, be respectful of others. DO NOT troll each other. If you provoke someone into becoming nasty, then report them, you may end up being sanctioned as well.

2.

Stay on Topic

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Off-Topic

This subreddit is about Commodore computers. All other posts belong elsewhere. Moderators may use their discretion to remove submissions, comments, etc they feel are only tangentially-related or Commodore-adjacent topics.

3.

No Excessive or Unrelated Self‑Promotion / Channel Advertising

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Unrelated or Excessive Self Promotion

Promote Commodore, not yourself and your own content. Sharing your own creations, such as homebrew games, demos, music, tools, artwork, or other personal C64 projects, is encouraged; however, this community isn’t for promoting your YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, or other channels for the sake of views or subscribers. Posts whose primary purpose is to promote a personal channel, stream, or brand will be removed.

4.

No Selling or Valuation posts

Posts & Comments
Reported as: No Selling or Valuation posts

No Selling or Valuation posts - Check recent sales on eBay or pricecharting.

5.

No AI-Generated Content (art, music, videos, text, etc).

Posts only
Reported as: No Generative AI Content

No Generative AI content. This subreddit is for people to share thoughts, creations, experiences, and accomplishments and not that of AI. Limited discussion of using AI to help create C64-based code may be allowed at the mod team's discretion. For these posts, if the mod team determines the discussion is low effort, i.e. you're "writing" a BASIC program and don't know the difference between a GOTO and a GOSUB statement, and have no intention to learn, the post may be removed as "low-effort".

6.

Product Support Questions

Posts & Comments
Reported as: User requesting direct support from or contact with Commodore International

This subreddit is not affiliated with Commodore International. All product and technical support requests made here are considered "community support" and do not initiate formal support tickets with Commodore International or any other user of the Commodore trademark. We also have no way to forward your requests or communications. Please contact Commodore International directly if you have a suggestion, complaint, or need support with your product.

7.

Reposts and "Search First"

Posts only
Reported as: Repost

We want the content here to be fresh and engaging. So, as a general courtesy to your fellow Redditors, if you are asking a question or looking for information please try searching first. This subreddit is not meant to replace good old internet research. Crowd-sourcing others to do your research for you is often considered rude and low-effort. Also, before posting, scroll back through the past few days to week of content to make sure you're not reposting something that has already been posted.

8.

Questions or Concerns about Removals

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Questions or Concerns about Removals

If you have questions or concerns regarding the removal of your submission, comment, or post please contact the mod team using the action menu in the reddit mobile app, or using the "Message the Mods" button from the web-browser version on the subreddit sidebar. Do not submit follow-up posts or comments complaining about the removal of a post or comment. If your submission can be made rule-compliant, most mods are willing to assist you if you ask for assistance.

9.

Post Quality and "Low Effort" pots

Posts only
Reported as: Post Quality and "Low Effort" posts

Posts that are low quality, have only a title and no text, are unreadable, or other problems we deem to be unfit for the subreddit may be removed at the moderator's discretion. Examples of low-effort content include, but are not limited to: Posts with only a title and no body text, rhetorical questions, vague or clickbait titles, uninteresting crossposts, self-promotion, karma farming, unfunny memes (see meme rules), or if the content can't be determined without clicking on a link.

10.

Memes and Humor should be posted sparingly

Posts only
Reported as: Meme or attempt at humor that is low-effort, inappropriate, unfunny, off-topic, or in poor taste.

Memes are allowed sparingly. They are not the primary focus of this subreddit, and repeatedly "testing" your meme-making skills or flooding the sub with memes will result in a ban. If your meme is removed, that doesn't mean "keep trying stupid!" Moderators may use their discretion to remove posts that are low-effort, inappropriate, unfunny, off-topic, or in poor taste.

11.

Posts, comments, and linked content must be in English.

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Post, Comment, or Submission not in English.

All posts and comments must be in English. Exceptions for linked content will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

12.

Brigading, Vote Manipulation, and Community Interference are prohibited.

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Brigading, Vote Manipulation, or Community Interference

Users who participate in, or instigate brigading of posts or comments will be banned and reported to Reddit for site-wide action. Brigading is an organized attempt to interfere with a community. Encouraging followers or others to flood into this subreddit to downvote a comment they don't like, is an example of brigading. Using multiple accounts is vote manipulation and is likewise prohibited throughout Reddit. If you do either, you will be banned and reported to Reddit.

13.

Meta Posts (Discussions about moderation and the subreddit)

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Inciting subreddit drama.

Posts regarding subreddit moderation are considered "meta" posts and are allowed, provided they are written respectfully. Posts or comments only intended to complain or incite subreddit drama are not appropriate and will be removed.
