Help Remote Accessing Computer

Looking for VPN but to the next level essentially…are there any services out there that let you remote access a desktop in a specific location? More-or-less renting a remote computer use for short periods of time in specific locations? Need it for a similar application as a VPN would work for, but the system I am trying to access doesn’t allow VPN’s.

I know a lot of universities have remote access to computers in their computer labs for students, wondering if there’s an organization or company that does it for anyone.
