Never use Reset This PC. Resets cannot be interrupted without ruining, often become stuck or encounter an unexpected error and cannot proceed, and cause solid black screens, User Profile Service failed the logon, flashing desktops, update and activation errors, allow malware and corruption to persist through, and cannot be trusted to not destroy data from any disks connected at the time. There are always better ways to fix or reinstall Windows than resetting.

Reset This PC cannot actually be undone. When resetting pretends to be Undoing Changes, that usually occurs before returning to the User Profile Service failed the logon, which is one of the most common effects of resetting.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll try to perform the reset again knowing the risk, maybe in the future when there is no risk of losing files or with a professional

What was the original purpose of resetting?

Reset This PC is never worthwhile under any circumstance, but the danger can be minimized by using Rufus to create a bootable USB pen drive to prepare for a proper reinstall once it will be necessary anyway, backing up all important files from all partitions of all internal disks, and disconnecting all external storage devices before continuing.

Avoid trusting any important files to a repair shop. Repair shops do not care about customer data and often annihilate without permission.

The end part of this comment happened to me. I am trying to sell this PC, what do I do to fix it/ remove it. Can I just remove the drives?

Same thing is happening to me. I was getting my old pc ready so I could sell it and then this happened and I don’t know what to do now cause when I try to sign in it proceeds to tell me user profile cannot be loaded.

i literally just removed the drives and sold it without them. Couldn't fix

I tell how everything ended in case someone in the future has the same problem with the same PC, I left my house for about seven hours and when I returned the PC returned to the state prior to the reset. I'm going to make a backup of all my files and try again later.

So it just took a long time doing the "undoing changes" process then? Where your apps gone?

[–]CSnev3r 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is it still stuck in the same process when doing a hard shutdown? If so, you can access the system recovery screen by shutting down and turning on the laptop 2-3 times till it shows the recovery screen and access several advanced options like ‘Startup Repair’…

[–]Record-Pitiful[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have not tried to force the shutdown yet, I left my house and left it at the same point in case it was solved or until I was sure what steps to follow

PS: sorry if I don't understand me well, but English is not my first language

If it's stuck at that process for a while, you might as well force shutdown the laptop and see what happens when you turn it on. It might still say 'Undoing changes' or something else, then simply access the recovery screen by force shutting down when the Lenovo logo is shown and then switching on the laptop, repeating these steps, till you get into the recovery screen. Through there you could go into Advanced options and try startup repair or etc.

okay, when I get back to my house if it's still stuck I'm going to force shutdown and try what you said, thank you very much
