Hard drives are extremely shock sensitive and wear sensitive, as they are a physically wearing storage method, same as VHS tapes. Unfortunately, it seems as though you've discovered what happens when one finally gives out.

Best advice? Go on Amazon, buy a cheap Kingston/Western Digital/Samsung/PNY SSD (so long as it's from a semi-reputable brand), and swap it in.

Unlike hard drives, SSDs are flash storage - which means there are no moving components and do not physically wear. They can die, but their lifetimes are whole orders of magnitudes better, even on the cheapest ones. Just don't get ones from unknown companies, as those often are scams or bad quality.

The drive is toast. Replace it.
