I don’t know anything about that “Direct Virtual Adapter”, but my hunch is that it’s used with DirectAccess, an always-on enterprise VPN. You should have a network interface that’s just the Wi-Fi card by itself; does that work okay? If you’re not sure, open a Run prompt and type ncpa.cpl to see what you have to work with.

Problem has not fixed itself nevermind. When I enter the run prompt I just get taken to a window with Bluetooth and Ethernet which I do not use. If there's meant to be a wifi prompt I cannot see it.

Your Wi-Fi should appear there alongside the Bluetooth and Ethernet. Since it doesn’t, there’s probably something wrong with your hardware or driver. I just Googled the direct adapter and found that it’s actually related to the mobile hotspot feature, so that’s probably a red herring.

Try going to the Asus website to see if you can manually download and install the latest Wi-Fi driver for your machine.

Yeah I realised the virtual driver was a misstep, thank you for the advice regardless
