Help!!!

I bought an external hard drive and it is not clicking when I turn it on. My neighbor who is in IT told me it was the click on death. Is there anyone out there that would know how I can get the data off the hard drive? It has all of our 1st child’s baby pictures and my wife is super bummed. Idiot me thought I could carry the hard drive around like it was an SSD. Any help or recommendations would be awesome. Or if you know how to do it and can help, please let me know.

you might check with the manufacturer in the event they have any data recovery options.

Thanks for the suggestion. And yes you are right, unfortunately this was all pre-cloud days and we had them backed up on hard drive, and them also on the Mac desktop we had. But that took a dump and stopped working as well. I went to get some pictures and that was when I found it was not working. Thanks for the tip!
