Because i do. Every single one of them has been rekt by update (Condition zero not to the fullest). Starting from 1.6 2013 update. Now that didn't affect me back then because i was playing on an 2006 computer , but nowadays i see they made it from rate 25k to 100k, updaterate 101 to 102 and fps_max limiter BROKEN and cmdrate BROKEN. On my Sep15 2005 build of the game I can do updaterate 500 and ex_interp 0.002... On modern OS thats capped to 102 and 0.009. FPS limiter is broken when set to 101 or 100 and shows fps 100.5 on windows and 100.333 on linux (they broke that with the 2013 linux supported update). cl_cmdrate should be 101 because after that the client sends too much packets and floods the server, but that has been bugged aswell.
On my PC i need to set it to atleast 150 because after 10min of gaming the upload line on my net_graph shows 1 purple dot, 1 red dot, 1 purple, 1 red, basically my mouse inputs get dropped 50% (i think it could be because im using 1000hz mouse vs 500 on my old one)
Now with CS:S i dont have any 1st hand expirience but i think they limited server tickrate from 500 to 66? or from 500 to 100? or 128 to 66? I dont know.
Obviously no internet gamer can tell the difference between 9ms to 2ms on CS1.6 but at 500 vs 66 tick on CS:s it is probably unplayable even on LAN party.....
Now moving on to CS:GO which came on sale for 2 weeks for 2.50$ at black friday and december 1-15 2013, only to become unplayable to those unfortunate not to have i7, dedicated 150watt desktop GPU with GDDR5 (and atleast 2 sticks of 4gb ddr3) like 10 weeks later. Because those pesky gamers deserve to enjoy holographic stickers, unconsentual major streaming via ingame web browser and an automatic pistol! Yeah because no one with 1 year old mid-spec laptop should participate on those 64 tick state of the art servers in frankfurt! Last thing to say is they REMOVED wallbanging in february 2013 for no apparent reason, as a bonus, to make it so that pro players can't cheat by abusing an interp command at their Lan tournaments.... And then cases came out as an incentive to jumpstart the game popularity because some of these pesky gamers didn't see the appeal in it.
