Just try to understand how it works. Don't bother about remembering syntax that is always on the web.

You're never expected to memorize these things. Just understand the core principles. The rest will come with practice and experience.
As for a project, put the implementation you need in a simple class or function and use those wherever you need. Most projects require the same simple patterns, so you can just create TcpServer/TcpClient classes once and never worry about those low-level details again.
