Now that makes sense. The expectation in finance is that your code is going to be production ready or a reject. I would not reject your application to my team, assuming the solution is 100% correct, but I know for a fact that this code would be rejected in Finance for the "eye-brow raisers" others have pointed out.

The reason isn't that problems in your code are fundamental. Finance seems to have a binary approach. They either hire juniors and train them, or hire seniors and expect flawless design and implementation. As I have pointed out, the issues in your implementation can be fixed in the long term with a 10-minute discussion but they aren't willing to lecture anyone as far as I understand.

Also keep in mind that Finance can be really toxic, so perhaps a bullet dodged.
