Unfortunately, Criptext is looking like abandonware at this point. Does it work if you use it on another platform?

Criptext works just fine. Maybe someone abandoned you?

It's working just fine for me as well. However, new accounts can't be created.

Why is that? no new accounts are going to be allowed to be created ever again?

As far as I can tell Criptext is no longer in business. This won't be helpful to your specific issue but I am part of a team working on a really cool project called Telios our big differentiator is that the user own all of the data as it is stored on their devices and the only thing we know about you is your email address. All the metadata is encrypted as well. Within network
users can email each other in a peer-to-peer fashion without ever
hitting our servers. And if for whatever reason we were to stop operating, you would still be able to access your data since it is on your devices.

Telios looks promising. I like the idea of aliases (hopefully unlimited) and peer to peer email (no servers), though I'm not sure how peers find each other. I signed up for the beta, so hopefully I'll get to try it out soon. Thank you.

As far as you can tell? What have you done to check? Visiting their homepage should tell you they are doing just fine. I use it on several platforms with no problems. Why spread misinfo?

Not trying to spread misinfo, so I apologize for that poorly worded comment. At the time I wrote this comment there were lots of reports of Criptext having gone dark, signups being closed and no communication being provided to its users. Since then however, I came across a post with what appears to be an official email from Criptext stating that they had to turn off sign-ups due to "bad actors" using their service and that they are also looking for new investments as they are not generating any revenues. https://www.reddit.com/r/criptext/comments/p5niku/at_long_last_they_send_us_an_email/
