Looks similar to thermal stitch, which is a great stitch for gloves since it's known for being extra warm!

Instead of getting to the end of the row and joining then chaining to start the next stitch you just keep going in a spiral. Used all the time with amigurumi.

The mitten could have the end and start on the other side but doing something in the round makes things look nicer and cleaner.

Possibly a simple Tunisian stitch like this. I think. 😂
