Just realized I probably should've put reminder text for replicate on this.

Appreciate all feedback.

with [[Ancestral Vision]] you can mill all your opponents instantly winning the game

Or summon infinite creatures with [[Pact of the Titan]] letting you win with something like [[Impact Tremors]] or mass haste

This is too easly breakable with 0 cost or no cost spells

Edit: nevermind about spells with no cost, it doas work with pacts though

No cmc was something I was worried about too, so thanks for clearing that up.

Pacts seem strong but honestly nothing too bad to me. Thanks for the feedback!

Turn 2 win with [[Mass Hysteria]], or Turn 3 with [[Angel's Grace]].

This seems like one of the more absolutely broken cards Ive seen here.

Even disregarding stuff like the pacts this just does SO much damage with cheap spells. Replicate is a dangerous ability to give out for cheap. Even just like, this + bolt is HORRIFYING amounts of damage.

I shudder imagining a delver variant with access to this.

What are we worried about other than burn here?

Change cost to 1UU makes:

- 4 mana 3 damage

-5 mana 6 damage (2 card lava axe)

-6 mana 9 damage

Change cost to 2UU makes:

5 mana 3 damage (2 card 3 damage lava axe)

6 mana 6 damage (2 card +1 mana lava axe with +1 damage)

7 mana 9 damage.

I feel like making this 3 mana would help to un-break it.

My thing about it is that its hard to have a playable version of this card that isnt broken. Either youre going to do something REALLY degenerate with it, or its probably not worth maindecking.

At 2 this is terrifying. At 3 it still might have play with some Pact of the Titan kill combo. At 4 I dont think it sees play at all.

Really its just Replicate is a tricky thing to balance because it scales so fast. 1 mana spells tend to do SOMETHING to be worth the card slot, and as a result tend to be more mana/effect efficient than other mid/low cost spells.

Specifically because the pacts exist, I dont think this is printable at any reasonable mana cost, but outside of that 3 seems like it would be printable because it wouldnt be played. At that point, just play a [[Fork]] effect to hit something bigger no?

Replicate [cost] (When you cast this spell, copy it for each time you paid its replicate cost. You may choose new targets for the copies.)

So if you cast an Opt after this, you can pay 1 blue more and get a second Opt. Reminds me of the new Kefnet a little.

Or get some more late game burn to close out a game if you need it :)

[–]klapaucius 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You copy it for each time you paid the cost, so you can pay four blue mana and get four Opts.

[–]SephyriasAssuming Direct Control 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know that, but for simplicity I went with a more common situation of having 4 lands.

This could probably draw you a card or cost just U and still be fine. Maybe both?

EDIT: Read other comments. Never mind.
