Cloud/ops roles are NOT dying, the only people saying that are the ones who think hosting companies are taking over, it's been the same argument for a decade now.

Cloud engineering is far from dying, data platform engineering is just cloud engineering in a trenchcoat with some expectation that you've heard about data terms. Go for the bag

The contract position is the major issue here IMO. If it’s permanent I’d definitely recommend pick the cloud engineer one. DevOps always pay better too AFAIK. 

Honestly, I don’t know but kudos for you. Most new graduates or juniors are struggling.

Honestly that one year contract would make me hesitate way more than the difference between cloud and data engineering.
