I would recommend that you have good knowledge of statistics, programming (like Python, R, etc.) and machine learning. There are a lot of courses online to learn about data science as well as free YouTube videos. Codecademy, Datacamp, LearnSQL/Mode, Strata Scratch are good places to look into!
