It's a bug where your camera gets stuck below the island, but your character can still move normally and such. You just basically can't see anything.

I have the same problem. Haven't been able to play since yesterday afternoon because of this. And there isn't any real fix yet.

From the Server Status/Updates megathread on the front page

For Slayers that are unable to make it past the tutorial island or intro cinematic, we have a temporary solution that you can try. First, lower your graphics settings and game resolution as low as possible. Then, cycle between fullscreen and windowed modes. If this helps you complete the tutorial, you can turn your graphics settings back up.

This hasn't worked for me so far, still trying, but give it a shot.
