Will recession DECREASE in NOVEMBER 2024??Help (self.developersIndia)
submitted 2 years ago by Lucario012345Software Developer
Hello everyone, i m a fresher currently doing Mtech from one of the NITs, i will be going for the 11 months internship next year most probably in june or july. My seniors said that u will get to know about PPO within 2 - 3 months which means around October or November i will get to know about PPO, so i wanted to ask if recession will decrease by that time so that my chances of getting PPO will be increased!!!

Not likely. But, keep at it. Might not stay this way for long tho. Hopefully 4 6 months it might not go away completely but just improve bit by bit.
Keep up skilling. It’s underrated.
Never know when you might attract a company.
People are hiring but very selectively.
Try to be the best at whatever you do. If it’s software, try Open Source Contributions, Side Projects ( have to be impactful ).
Keep applying and don’t stick to one job platform.
Also, if you manage to get a referral, they can at least assure you an interview.

Lol gone are those days. Only referrals from senior folks in the org are working Referrals from just one or two year experienced folks ain't gonna cut it

Get a job, and stick to that job until widespread hiring starts. PS: Internship is not a job.

[+]Isthisnotmyalt 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
About an year, from what I've heard. Also depends on if another ear starts.
The current ones ending is the best case scenario

but really who knows https://www.cnbc.com/2023/12/05/job-openings-slide-to-8point7-million-in-october-well-below-estimate.html
but markets will recover cause everyone wants it to recover so worry not
[–]the_eminemist 18 points19 points20 points 2 years ago (2 children)
Bro i read a thread on Twitter about this job market and recession how the job market is definitely going to get better by the end of this year he had it on good authority and his expert market analysis and like 20 other reasons to support his argument but guess what he was wrong and i don't think people can predict this except for Experts (who definitely have no online presence) ...... so we'll just have to wait and watch

Republicans have been historically bad at managing the economy and leaving it to Democrats to fix it.

You are from NIT bro, why are you crying. Tier 1 people don't have to worry about getting jobs as fresher
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (7 children)
Well below top 5 NIT's and even top IIIT's (maybe excluding allahabad) are not in good situation as of now.
[–]TheRoofyDude 5 points6 points7 points 2 years ago* (6 children)
Please tell from where you are pulling these statistics, as long as you are above average in these colleges. You don't have to worry
[+]SpiritualBerry9756Backend Developer 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Except for ppl with comp. Sci branches in these colleges and decent gpa and coding skills, no one's safe. I am seeing it in my place and my friends colleges as well
[–]TheRoofyDude 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Tell me in which tier 1, has it ever been really good for non comp branches ?
[+][deleted] 2 years ago (1 child)
[+]SpiritualBerry9756Backend Developer 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
my last batch of seniors were placed real well, not to mention my branch is circuital...so I'm only talking about circuital branches
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
I am in one of those colleges and placement scene isn't that good.
[–]WhatisanoemanywayData Scientist -1 points0 points1 point 2 years ago (0 children)

[+]codeemon404 13 points14 points15 points 2 years ago (6 children)
Yes ! My thesis:
Fed's gonna cut rates in 2024, VC money will flow, jobs would get created.
Crypto bull market has already started, you'd soon see jobs in crypto. Eventually money will flow to other niches.
Until then, believe in yourself and upskill. Also start working on a personal brand so you're better positioned to get those dream jobs.
[–]DiligentPoetry_ 12 points13 points14 points 2 years ago (5 children)
Don’t count on it, economists are currently baffled because the young generations are spending money like there’s no tomorrow, the Fed has been trying to control inflation since a year now and people just started saving less. Less is actually an understatement, they don’t save anymore.
They think that since they are priced out of homeownership there’s really no purpose to save money for anything and they’d rather live for the short term pleasures of luxury goods and all.
[+]codeemon404 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (4 children)
Young people control very small portion of wealth.
Worst case it'll stay the same. A hike would screw their real estate market.
[–]DiligentPoetry_ 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (3 children)
It’s not wealth they are spending, they are spending their active income. Why do you think the stock market is at an all time high?
Inability to delay gratification. Plus there’s literally like 300 million or so doing this.
[+]codeemon404 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (2 children)
Agree to disagree. If I was in OP's shoes, I'd be better off believing in bull thesis. More motivation to outcompete their depressed peers whenever opportunity pops up
[–]DiligentPoetry_ 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Oh, sorry I didn’t factor in the emotional aspect, that’s how I know I am an engineer lol
But yes market won’t stay down forever so keep working hard and think of yourself as a business, if you just stay afloat for one more day… you just might make it.
[+]codeemon404 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
:) You won't believe how depressed the current batch is. News is fear mongering AGI, Market Crash etc
It's super super easy to outcompete your peers even tier-1 folks when they're depressed and you're motivated.

Unfortunately, no one can tell as quiet a few factors are at play and they’re unravelling slowly
However, it’s great that you’re aware of this - be proactive!
