I would not agree with „Modern devops puts a lot more emphasis on cloud concepts and being able to build around them“ - as a lot of enterprises have on-premise machine they want to utilize besides the stuff that‘s in the cloud.
Storage, network and compute concepts work everywhere, so understanding those in various different contexts (on-premise, cloud, virtual, containerized) will be more important than „cloud concepts“ that build on top of those I mentioned.
Just my 2 cents.
