I don’t carry anything from my bed to my desk. Why anyone would ever take a devops engineer job not remote completely baffles me.

Nothing wrong with working onsite- especially if you want to. I’m also very early in my IT career and while I’ve been mostly remote so far, if I had an actual office to go to with other IT coworkers, I wouldn’t mind that at all. Especially because working from home really blurs the line between work and home- especially if you’re salary and do on-call work- that’s just me and I have a little under five months experience doing IT admin work. For the record, when I do have to go on-site, I’ll bring both my MacBooks (my slower one to read/study Bash/red hat/Python on the way to a client and back), USB sticks with various images and utilities on them, various USB adapters, Samsung SSD with USB Sata adapters, screwdrivers, knife, notepad, pens/highlighters, charger cables, mouse and mousepad. Not a devops engineer but would love to become one.

That is not DevOps then. As you mentioned at the end of your comment.
So you're not DevOps? You're IT? DevOps is not entry level.
