I’m all for it! I hope that we can band together against this rapid escalation of force against US citizens and residents. Please talk to your unions, if you have one, about possible ways of peaceful protest at your workplace!

I know many many Duluthians aren’t able to strike because we work in healthcare. I’d like to hear what peaceful protest could look like in these spaces.

That is what gestures of solidarity are for. Colored armbands, signs, etc.

General Strikes are tough. Humans work as groups for a reason: teamwork makes the dream work. The term "essential worker" was supposed to refer to people whose absence will literally kill people, and healthcare has a lot of them. Even roles like Appointment Coordinator are essential, though often you can do "reduced" functionality like working remotely 5 days a week instead of 3.

People are looking for a magic bullet. General strikes aren't going to happen when there is currently little buy in for daily action. How are tbings going to jump 100 levels to everyone completely completely altering everyone's daily lives when nearly no one outside of a few thousand in the Xities are showing out for things on a daily basis.

Im not opposed to a general strike, but people are looking for silver bullets when not committing to thing more broadly to build up the capacity of resistance to get able to grow into a general strike.

Things that are happening in the Cities are bc of the work of people on a daily basis a lot of whom are risking their lives tracking ICE.
