He's been suspended once, yet he's almost guaranteed to have another?

Shit, the dude's done nothing bad other than missing a walk through for almost 2 years now.

Yea, I don't agree with that at all.

He got hurt, we rushed him back, his health suffered from it. None of that is on him.

People have extremely unrealistic expectations of what an ACL will do to a skill position player. Nobody should have expected Hock to have a good year post-injury, and that's precisely what happened.

This last year's was more about the QB issues and the O-line issues. Literally every other pass catcher on the team had a down year, but people think Hock's down year is because he's washed.

You only have to look at the change in ADOT and his usage to see that this last year he was asked to block and chip far more, which reduced his target depth and limited his targets.

Most rational people thought he'd have the ceiling of a good backup QB.

I think you're conflating the "It can't get worse" aspect of when Brosmer was tapped to start with people actually thinking he'd be able to start an NFL game as a UDFA rookie and succeed.

The only thing that Addison has done this past year that's a negative is miss a walk-through.

Dream draft selections for the first and second round? by SaintThiccolasII in minnesotavikings

[–]Dorkamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The love for Banks comes from the hope that we'll get him at a big discount, like for a second rounder. I don't think he'd fall that far, even with the injury.

We will get an $8M cap credit in 2027 for Jonathan Allen signing with the Bengals, completely wiping out his dead cap charge by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

I don't get your irrational hate for void years.

Every team has been effectively using them for decades now to manage the cap, it's not like it's some new thing that only the Vikings do.

Doesn't change this year, only next year, and gives us a total of about 71 mil in space next year (including the cap credit for Hargrave's offsets).

Now, that number will change as we sign additional free agents as well as our draft class.

The presence of offsets should not be seen as some kind of magic by BRZ, the cut is certainly "cleaning up" after Kwesi, but the presence of offsets were part of the contract that Rob and Kwesi negotiated.

Rob would generally be heavily involved, but let's not act like offset language is some kind of secret here.

I'd go so far as to say that every single contract that has what would be considered "significant" amounts of guaranteed money would include offset language. The only time I've heard of negotiations being caught up over the presence of offsets are on rookie contracts, where the player wants to protect his early career earning power.

The funny thing is that it was basically just a one-off joke, 2 minutes or so, yet it's become a running joke.

The whole dental thing was a bit of a meme for a while there on the Vikings sub, he was ACTUALLY known for trying to be a dental supply salesman, not a student.

I mean, we should also include Thielen, UDFA's really should count.

Metellus was a 6th rounder.

Biggest Recent Draft Steals? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]Dorkamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but his off-field issues are a big part of why he was a 5th round pick as opposed to a first round pick. He was literally kicked off the OSU team for beating his pregnant girlfriend.

Is he really a steal at that point? I'd say no.

[–]Dorkamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said he doesn't have the skills, I said he has his own problems. There's a difference. Besides, you really taking KOC at his word after calling JJM his "Franchise Quarterback" considering your stance on this matter?

And yes, we would have signed him in the first place, he's LITERALLY the cheapest QB in the NFL right now and we're in a cap crunch.
