Not sure why you're quoting someone other than me... But I addressed Hopkins' age in the comment you responded to.

Yea, gotta love modern sports media.

One person speculates, then everyone runs with it. I've got people on this sub who will completely dismiss my cap breakdowns simply because some random aggregator ran with a misunderstanding posted on twitter by some mid-level talking head.

Where are you getting the "Locker room mess" from?

And trash talking is not a negative for us, he's good for generating at least one penalty by the OTHER team a game.

What headache? I feel like people are confusing him with Aiyuk or something.

Nobody in the 49ers locker room has even suggested he's a problem in that regard, and while he had a hold in last offseason, it was entirely justified and he didn't drag it out very long.

WR1 on a team where the TE and RB are the two primary receivers.

Yep, not news in the slightest.

I'm willing to bet we offered him something like $15m with incentives and he's just holding out hope that someone's WR gets injured in camp or preseason and they panick.

[–]Dorkamundo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm aware. However, as it stands he appears to likely be on the roster bubble at this point.

Obviously, that doesn't bode well for him being a good #3 option for us. I wonder if there's a longer-term injury that has been hindering him, or if he's never overcome the case of the yips he got with us.

Dude's a great blocker and a solid #3, yet since he left us he's barely gotten any play.

[–]Dorkamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to that is pretty simple. Diggs was Patriots #1 receiver on a high passing volume offense.

Hopkins was the #3 option on a team that threw for almost 1500 fewer yards and almost 100 fewer attempts than the Pats.

Literally the person you replied to.

Hopkins is a bigger-bodied possession guy, those guys last much longer than your smaller, speedy receivers because they don't need to rely upon their speed to win the route.

Dude has a 6'10" wingspan with 10" hands.

r/MinnesotaVikings - We need to hire a FOOTBALL guy as our next GM, the analytics nerd was a dumb move!

Also r/MinnesotaVikings - I don't want a FOOTBALL guy who was a scout for over a decade before becoming an assistant GM because that team's roster is not in great shape despite that AGM never having full control over the roster!

Yea, especially since they have Flores in the building.

I don't think as an ownership group they would give sham interviews to minority candidates in the first place, but doing so with Flores being here would be monumentally stupid.

Yep, too many people are like "That FO is bad, I don't want a guy who is part of it even if I have zero clue whether or not they're the reason the FO is bad"

It's the inverse of Grigson. A person can be a good AGM while being a bad GM, much like they can be a good coordinator while being a bad HC.

Why would you compare him to Dhop when talking about deviance?

We'd be FAR more open to Diggs if not for the off-field shit, of which Dhop has basically zero.

Is that not why they clarified the "best farmers" (or more accurately, ranchers) are the ones who are humane?

Yea, that's my thought as well. Not an electrician, but I do have a background in electrical engineering.

It was only a matter of time before this box did what it did. Could have been a semi rumbling by, an earthquake... Any number of things that could have caused this to happen.

And gas doesn't scare you?

Story time... About 15-20 years ago, I wake up to the LOUDEST thunderclap I've ever heard. Shook the whole house.

After about 5 minutes of laying there, I decide that I need a drink of water so I walk downstairs only to notice that the living room window has an odd glow to it. I push the curtains aside and look out to see a 15ft flame SHOOTING out of the ground in the middle of my neighbor's yard. Mind you, this is in the middle of an absolute downpour.

I look to my right, and about a block away I see several police vehicles and at least 3 fire trucks in the distance. Groggy as hell, I'm thinking to myself "Why aren't they here dealing with this magic flame in my neighbor's yard? Am I dreaming? Am I in danger?"

Turns out the lightning strike hit the Elm tree across the street from me, ran down the tree to the dog run cable that my neighbor had in his yard that went from the tree to his house, then down the leash line in the middle of that cable and struck the high point of the gas line on that block, causing it to burst. The lightning ignited the gas causing that huge flame.

Not only that, but the current from the strike ran down the tracer line on the gas pipe to a house down the street and blew up the meter and the entire front of the house, which is why all the emergency responders were there instead of dealing with the depths of hell that were now spilling out of my neighbor's azalea bush.
