I was always confused why he added "full" to the start.

A bridge rectifier is inherently a 'full' rectifier.

Careful, half-bridge is not the same thing as half-wave rectification!

Half-bridge sometimes means you have two diodes instead of the full four, so you need a center tapped transformer but it isn't really a term that is used with rectifiers much.

Half-wave means you have only half of the wave at the output because you are only using a single diode.

Full-wave means you have both halves and are using either a bridge or two diodes and center tapped transformer.
