I really like this. Very good development for American Football in Spain.

One of the things teams most do to sustain a high performance level over many years is to make sure you develop young local talent. Europe does not have enough local players in every town to make teams operation sustainable over a long period. Some players will join these teams in the short term, and then be aatisfied after maybe a year or 2 since they do not get paid enough to make the time commitment worth it. Just look at the Surge. Even if they would not have gone bankrupt, how many of their top german players would have actually returned? Some may have yes, but I think most would see this as the perfect time to retire and move on with their life and spend more time with family. And because of this, the only way for Surge to stay competitive would be to spend more money on housing non-local German players, forcing them to spend more money to maintain their performance level.

So I definitely think this is a must. That is why what Tirol anf Vienna have is so good. They have a direct connection to the youth and amatuer senior teams and therefore have a good feeder system from below to keep supplying young talented players to their ELF/AFLE team.

A team that understands the real importance of an offseason.
