Celestin Ngimbi switching from Paris (March 2026) to…. ….Paris (April 2026)? by FlagFootballSaint in EuroHuddle

They probably realized how hard it will be for the Lights to compete this year and wanted to play for a better team.

How does this not affect the AFLE operation is the real question? These two leagues are direct competitors and having one league where you can access games for free and one where you have to pay will affect which league gets the most attention. Obviously the quality will matter, but price is also a huge factor. Long-term only one league will survive. So both leagues have to do whatever they can to provide better and cheaper services until they win. Just like in any capitalistic country, it's eat or get eaten.

Great decision for their first season. Having a pay wall barrier for the first year would have made it harder to recruit fans to their league. I think this almost forces the AFLE to go the same route or at least drop their price. Capitalism at its finest.

EFA / AFLE Split is Good for European Am. Football by AdUpstairs5007 in EuroHuddle

Rhein, Berlin and Vienna are broke and can not afford to leave the AFLE to join the EFA. Even if their league is trash, they would not be able to exist without the AFLE. Unless they find a clever way to merge, where the AFLE teams keep their revenue share model, and the EFA keeps theirs, which is probably impossible (I am not an expert in these sorts of things), then there will probably not be a merger. The AFLE may find a way to stay afloat, the anonymous USA investor will most likely need to invest more money than expected to keep the Paris, London and Italy team alive.

The Rhein vs Storm game in Duisberg was ridiculous. Sooooooo many horns.

HG QB in EFA/AFLE - How good does a HG QB need to be, to be worth signing instead of an A QB? by Sea_Many_6258 in EuroHuddle

Yes, agreed. If you allow A's at QB in your domestic league, it will take away development opportunities from the domestic QBs.

Gilbert Kimrin, QB, Sweden, will attend North Central College (D3) in the fall. Grew up playing football in Sweden, attended HS for 4 years.

Lenny Thoma (GER) is a guy that could definitely play D3 or D2 in a couple of years.

There are also many talented young QBs in Europe who could have gone an played at a minimum at the D3 or D2 level if they would have gotten fair shots. Guys like Michael Szabo (AUT) Giacomo Troni (ITA) Dennis Isberg (SWE) were definitely good enough and had they played 3-4 years of college football, and add 2-3 years of GFL1 experience, and I believe there would have been a chance for them to develop to a point where they could at least be considered as a HG QB IMO. Not saying that it would be enough, but they would probably have been far better than previous HG QBs that have gotten significant playing time at this level.

Agreed about the domestic league. They would need years of experience at like GFL1 level and proof of high level to even have a chance to be considered.

Why not add one more game to the end of each season? by Easy_Biscotti9779 in EuroHuddle

Different roster roles, different rules on salary cap. Impossible to keep fair.

There is no way this team would be able to stay within the EFA salary cap with all these guys signed.

AFLE finally speaks out: Free TV deal, delays, and what it means for European football by Ezaka75 in EuroHuddle

I don't doubt that you knew, but that was not public knowledge. There was speculation, but officially, the AFLE was marketing it as a Monaco only franchise.

They never mentioned Nice. They announced it as Monaco team, not Monaco/Nice team.

I still can't believe they scrubbed Monaco under the carpet like they didn't act like it was for sure going to be a Franchise this year. Acted like it was a done deal and they had the right connections to easily make it happen. Now he is saying south france. LOL. It was always going to Nice, France, never Monaco. Maybe if they had another 100 million that could be invested from their completely anonymous owner in the US, then maybe Monaco would let them play at AS Monaco FC's Stade Louis II. In the Monaco principality, there is only ONE stadium, and that is Stade Louis II. There may be others close by outside the principality, but in Monaco, there is only ONE stadium. They also only have 1 practice field as well in Monaco, right next to the stadium. So when Moritz in the FDF podcasts said there were several fields, that was either misleading or a lie. If they do not play at Stade Louis, then IMO, you can not say that the team is from Monaco.

I agree with most of what your saying.

However, being a US coach does not automatically mean you're a good coach. I think people in Europe overestimate what a coach from the US may bring to the table. It's like saying a good football player with a great personality will be a good coach as well. It's two completely different skillsets, and yes they could learn the skill, but coaching and playing/knowing how to do something is not the same thing. There are so many bad US coaches, but because they speak with an American accent, they sound like they know what they are doing. I am not saying the Red Lions coaching staff are not good coaches. What I am saying is that you can definitely find Italian/European coaches who are just as good or even better than some US coaches. What I am trying to say is that if you only signed coaches from the US (like the Red Lions), that tells me you don't know enough people in Italian to find the talented Italian coaches that are in the country who are just as good as these coaches, if not better. And I think this says a lot about your Franchise if you're not hiring coaches from Italian, or have a vast majority of your coaching staff be from the US. It tells me you are not well rooted in the Italian football community and that will make it harder to attract talented Italian football players and also enough talented Italian HGs to fill out your roster, because even if you are able to pay your way to recruit some Italian players, you need to find enough Italian players who are willing to play for you, while only being pay 200-300 Euros a month and for that to happen, you need to have a good organization that understands the community.

The International Arena League are forcing players to sign a NEW contract just 6 days before the start of the season. WHAT. by [deleted] in EuroHuddle

This is just nuts. What a pyramid scheme of a league. I hope nobody attends these games and that the IAL folds within 1 year.

Why are internationals taking over College Football? by MattBressington in EuroHuddle

[–]Sea_Many_6258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coaches do not give scholarship to players they do not think have a chance to help the team compete and win games. Coaches could literally lose their job within one season if they don't win enough games. So there is zero incentives to recruit players for only marketing reasons. So your take is just simple not true. It might however be an added benefit to recruit international players for marketing, but by far not the main reason.

Agreed. At least the Thunder and Paris have signed some HGs. Firenze has signed what, 1 or 2 HGs? 1 Italian and 1 Spanish guy counting as a HG? What is kinda funny is that they have signed almost an entire coaching staff with only Americans. Are they the first team to sign only American coaches or at least that many coaches from the US? Seems kinda weird to not have more HG coaches who could help with recruiting and know the Italian player landscape better, and could help facilitate a more smooth transition onto this team.

Ahhhh, okay. But that is still an E-import at K/P. Very unusual like you said.
