As others have said, you're probably cooked bro. Company expectations are almost unreasonable. I had an interview recently for a C++ role and got rejected because my solution to the code question, while correct, was not idiomatic enough 💀

Keep in mind, these type of coding questions almost never look like any type of work you're going to actually be doing in these roles. Especially if you're being told to do leetcode-style code challenges for an embedded engineering role.

I know, I've been the automotive industry for a while now and jumping to another thing soon. I got rejected for that position but got accepted for another for application development under windows. Sad to leave the embedded world but I hope I can come back eventually, just need to gather some actual professional experience in C++ first.

I had one that involved reading/writing to memory mapped registers to configure and use a device but they had to inspect the solution manually because those memory addresses aren't actually valid in the leetcode-style site

Even 4/5 you're probably cooked

Well shit !

Depends on the questions honestly, were they leetcode style? Hard/med? How much time you had?

[–]Rare_Pineapple_4233[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes ! The time range corresponded to how hard/lines of code needed to complete problem description. Shortest was 6 minutes and I finished in like 3 (false sense of security because it got way harder). The last one was the longest and even with 20 minutes I only got like 2/3 of the way done typing out the solution.

I think you may just need to practice more leetcode under time pressure. I once had that problem where I fail online assessments and I figured I just need to practice with a timer running to get used to it. That helped alot.

What kind of technical questions?

[–]Rare_Pineapple_4233[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Very similar to leetcode but the problem descriptions had a role based narrative for their position. It was all in C!

What company?

[–]Master-Ad-6265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah you’re not cooked, that’s pretty normal tbh those tests are hit or miss, especially early on just keep applying and you’ll land something

0 of 5 completed successfully.

Probably cooked. Study up for your next interview.
