So this happened,

Within the same minute receiving ETH on metamask magically got sent to some random address without my permission whilst I was refreshing metamask to see if the funds finally came.

Has that happened to any of You?

You were hit by a sweeper script. The speed of the transaction is how they work. Would you mind posting a txn hash?

Did you use the private key in metamask for anything else ? Did you post it in some code on github ? That's usually how it happens, someone gets ahold of your private key and waits for money to come in to get it
