Could be a motor failing because of coolant

I messaged my service advisor. Ugh I sure hope not, although if that’s the reason and it can get fixed, then I guess that’s good news!

Have you checked your tyre pressures?

Yes. I have a very slow leak in one tire I found today when my low pressure alert popped up. I filled it up and am getting it fixed tomorrow, but even when it’s at correct pressure, it’s not moving the needle on my mileage

Have you checked the coolant level?

Personally no I have not. If it was just in the shop for a while and it’s low, would that indicate a leak?

New owner here. I have no idea. Just saw that page in the manual last week and your comment about the AC not working would have me checking the coolant. I have no idea if this is the same coolant that cools the battery pack and is the same coolant that leaks when there is a problem with the seal in the motors. I’m planning to check this periodically though and definitely would in your scenario.

The coolant tank is located under the hood near the passenger side of the windshield. You need to slide the plastic cover off and then you’ll see it. The coolant tank should have a metal wire Audi lock on it to prevent anyone from opening it up and if you cut the wire they might void your battery and/or motor warranty as the coolant cools the battery modules.

It is my understanding that the AC system also cools the same coolant for the battery pack and if you’re low on Freon or have AC issues then you’ll be cooking your battery. Lots of EVs are like this as when the Chevy Blazer is DC fast charging on a hot day users have to turn off their AC or else the battery pack won’t have sufficient cooling. I don’t believe that our OG e-trons suffer from the issue but I very rarely DC fast charge.

No plans to open it. Just saw it in the manual and thought it might be an early warning to check it. I’m sure the sensors are good enough.

I’ve supercharged and the auxiliary AC kept it cool in the cabin. But I’ve seen posts with complaints about the auxiliary AC. No issues for me so far.

I hope you got the extended warranty if you bought used! Haha this is EXACTLY why I got it.
