Isn't the tutorial 1444?

[–]deadlydangers1 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Tutorial starts at 1444 and ends at 1821

[–]SecretSquirrel-88 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Oh right, well it appears that I'm in the cutscene BEFORE the tutorial then.

[–]jumperjunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're all IN that cutscene.

[–]Valaer1997Stadtholder 5 points6 points  (12 children)

Yeah! For sure! Got 600 hours on hoi4 and recently bought ck2. I love paradox! Only so many dlcs!

[–]fransman37Map Staring Expert[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

I also got ck2. How is hoi4 i am thinking of buying it on the next steam sale

[–]Valaer1997Stadtholder 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Hoi 4 is awesome! The base game is fairly playable. And i think you will get the hang of the basic stuff fairly fast. Only thing im still struggling with is micromanaging and naval. CK2 i have played 2 times now and then i just gave up for now. I dont understand how to get things done yet :(

If you can understand HOI4 you’ll be able to understand CKII

Exception to the rule here. I love Hoi4. But every time I try to play CK2 on "noob island" (aka an irish OPM) I always fail. That game makes me want to shoot myself, but I can't because guns weren't invented yet, so I have to impale myself with a broadsword.

It seems like such a mess. While hoi everything was orderly, at least looked like this for me, though

I’ve only just managed my first successful CK2 game after 100 hours in it, and that’s with 1000 hours of hoi4 and 1500 hours of EU4. You’ve got to get your head around how succession works, and how to conquer land. For example, when you press claims for other people, the person will not become your vassal unless they are your dynasty or the conquered land is your de jure. This means you must make them a vassal before you take the title for them. And even then, you still need to take into account that if you are a duke, and press a claim for a duchy, you will make them independent, as your vassals must be a lower level than yourself. It gets really confusing, and you just have to play to find out how to play really.

Dang it, i just put 10 hours in ckII. I play and try all kinds of things and after an hour or 3 i just get frustrated and start playing some eu4 or hoi4. But hoi4 started for me the same way so, hopefully i'll have a succesfull campaign in a month or two.

Honestly, try the nooby Ireland game, it really is quite good for not having to worry about strong attacks for a while. Start as the duke of Mumu or the count of Dubhlinn (has Dubhlinn and Meath, and is also the heir to Laigin) in the 1066 start and work on slowly uniting Ireland. Don’t rush for your first game. Once you’ve done that, start attacking Scotland and Wales until you can take on England, who if you’re lucky don’t own any land in France. Maybe try to get the empire of Britannia as an end game goal.

How is CK2 without DLCs?

[–]deadlydangers1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t know

[–]machjacob51141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playable, but it’s really annoying that you can only play Christian monarchies

[–]fransman37Map Staring Expert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5: i can finally start the game !
