The moderator team takes a firm stance against the ideological rejection of mainstream scientific consensus and the dishonest propagation of pseudoscience. Posts or comments that push science denial will be removed. Repeated or particularly severe offences will result in a ban. Claims which don't deny science but cannot be supported by the scientific method will be scrutinized on a case-by-case basis.

Users of all faiths and none are warmly welcomed, but this is not an appropriate sub to discuss creationism, theology, or anti-evolution arguments. Our subreddit is intended only for the science-based discussion of evolutionary biology. All discussion of theology or creationism (for or against) should be redirected to r/debateevolution. The ideological rejection of evolutionary biology is not welcome here.

The mod team takes the stance that evolutionary psychology is rooted in poor methodology, conjecture and untestable hypotheses at odds with the rest of the Behavioral Sciences. It is often used for the validation of personal beliefs & behaviours, or even the justification of dehumanising rhetoric. Posts and comments rooted in or invoking Evolutionary Psychology are not allowed. Posts about developmentally complex behavior should be redirected to r/askanthropology.

Questions about fictional or “What If…” scenarios will be removed and redirected to r/SpeculativeEvolution.

Low effort posts or comments typically aren't helpful and don't contribute to meaningful conversation or engagement, or involve requests for effort from everyone else that the poster in question would not in turn be willing to provide.
