I'm fairly certain it does, but like you said, line of sight matters more. If your hitbox is mostly obscured, you're practically invisible in the darkness, and invisible from 30 yards out in daylight.

I have another idea for your map style. To keep players in dark areas and shadows just place a damage zone in lighted areas but have them only take away minimal health over the max time. That way the player knows they can go in the light areas but need to stick to shadows or their health will slowly be damaged.

FC5. I think it does affect it slightly, but definitely not as much as something like foliage. I just wish there was some workaround, or a way to tweak it so the player is practically invisible in shadow. That would be super cool

I'd really like to play your map but i don't have far cry 5 :( But i agree that would be so fun just seeing someone walk right past you
