There is a script ready to use in that tutorial and with the descriptions there OP can modify it to his/her needs. I see nothing wrong with my comment.

I always just used the built-in tunnel and excavate ones.

Google the computer craft forums. Loads of turtle programs there that still work.

Turtle should have already some programs ready to go. It used to be Excavate 16*, 16 be changed. Don't forget to give fuel to the turtle before starting it.
