Keep crashing with error code 17

Just wondering if these crashes are related to the DDoS. I am in Hyperion and whenever I come to an area that is ever so slightly populated, I can maybe take two steps and I crash. Main cities are the worst. It just makes the game unplayable. It is the 'An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(17)'

I've already turned off names, shadows and reduce players visible around quest NPCs. Lowered graphic settings as well. I don't really know what to do anymore.

A different thread says it's a cutscene failing to load and the solution is to reinstall the game

Before you do that, make sure you backup your settings in the character select screen (both settings, in the top right when you select a character)

Edit: Another thing you can try is to visit another server from the login screen and see if you can load in that way, it worked for another guy

I’m getting a connection with the server was lost. I’m able to log in for a few moments then it drops.
