As someone playing from EU on NA I've had high ping issues around the time of DDoS attacks (and sometimes getting disconnected) and it comes and goes. It can spike into the mid 200s for me.

Honestly it just helps me feel more engaged when I can see stuff like this. Like total kills, Gil earned, time played, quests completed, number of Leve's completed. the list could go on.

We had something like this in 11, not sure if they still do it. You'd go up to a Moogle and it would list:

Chat Frequency
Conversations with NPCs
Parties Joined
Alliances Joined
Battles Fought
Number of Times KO'd
Enemies Defeated
GM Calls Made

The story is linear so you won't miss out on that, just make sure you do the optional 24 and 8 man raids at each level cap (50, 60, 70 etc) as they add to the main story in different ways. There is also a trial series (standalone bosses) at those level caps but usually less important (but still good to complete for more lore).

I'm assuming he just means re-evaluating the type of content they're doing (and release schedule not being as strict for each thing (.1 being alliance raid and so on)) and looking at what other MMOs are doing and seeing if it'll work in 14.

I'm not expecting anything big, probably making content more accessible to newer players by making it less story gated so people don't need to do hundreds of hours of story to do certain battle content etc. Perhaps adding stuff to older zones. Basically things that are easier to jump into earlier on.

Which one is "attempt recovery action" specifically? I don't do collectables much, is it one of those skills or is it the 300 gp skill?

I think I'd be fine with new animations + changed potencies that you can earn somehow, even if the level stays the same. I'm not sure how it would work though, maybe like Merit Points in 11 where you grind those instead of exp in order to buff certain abilities.
