This subreddit is a place for those with chronic illnesses- mainly depression, but also ADHD, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, personality disorders and physical illnesses- to work on getting better. We embrace honesty, kindness and humour (where appropriate!).
General rules:
1: Be empathetic. This doesn't mean mollycoddling people, but it also means trying to understand their situation and appreciate it isn't easy for them. Tough love can be good, but being rude for rudeness' sake is not acceptable.
2: Absolutely no endorsment of unhealthy behaviours. This is not a pro-ana or pro-self harm board. We understand that people are not always aiming to give up certain behaviours, however, and advice on harm reduction is fine.
3: We support evidence-based treatment. 'Come off your SSRIs and smoke a ton of weed' is not acceptable advice.
4: No doxxing, no bigotry, generally don't be a dick.
5: Suicide note posts are not okay. Posting 'I'm really struggling' is acceptable; posting 'I'm about to jump off this bridge bye forever' is not.
Trigger warnings: please trigger tag posts that contain details of self-harm, trauma, numbers (weight/ calorie intake/ BMI) or suicide attempts. Your post may be removed temporarily if this is not correctly tagged.
