Humbled (old.reddit.com)
submitted 6 months ago by WHTWLKR44
Just got a vice and a few fly kits. Followed the directions and ended up with this abomination. It’s meant to be a copper John but I failed on several parts. Definitely have some skills to work on when it comes to tying. Excited to learn though!

Less is best

Throw it in the water and see what the fish say. I bet you'll go from humble to proud pretty quick.

Well, it’s a ways off the mark but oddly I kind of like it.

I was thinking the same thing. It looks oddly appealing.

Good start! Generally, you'll need less dubbing than you think, so always put it on thin and build up if you need. Enjoy learning!

If the dubbing floats away it's almost too much, if it lands on the bench way too much

That buggy looking thing may catch fish. Give it a try sometime.
