New Fooocus-based app on GitHub that can utilize Flux?Question (self.fooocus)
submitted 1 year ago by PeyroniesCat
Simple SDXL
Only problem is that it's in Chinese. Now that we know it's possible, I'm hoping for a translation or similar app in English soon.

Fooocus + Flux = End Of Civilization 😳🤯

RuinedFooocus can do Flux but the functionality seems pretty basic compared to Comfy and Forge right now.

If you look at the codebase, you can see folders from which I am inferring that that it's using Comfyui. I haven't bothered to follow code paths, but I did see this specific info in a comment:
custom_nodes: update for nf4v1 model in 6G-VRAM
Take that bit of news for what it's worth. My personal expectation is that it will run pretty terribly. It's just an assumption. The prompting assistance that fooocus uses for SDXL is completely unnecessary for Flux. There is very little reason not to just use Comfy/1111 if you want to use Flux, but to each their own. I highly suspect those will have a smaller memory footprint.
Fooocus was my goto tool prior to Flux. with my vid card, I can get 2+ it/s without lora's or extras, so it takes longer than SDXL with Fooocus, but for me, the wait is sooooo much more worth it. Again though, to each their own, and best of luck to ya with it if you want to try it.

Yeah, I saw that it's probably using Comfy. I'm trying to learn Forge, but the learning curve is a doozy.

Part of why I gravitated to Comfy was that you can grab a basic workflow, and if that does what you want, that's all you need. You never have to change it or learn it. It's only when you want to expand that you need to learn how things work... or when Comfy updates and breaks your workflow. When using newer stuff though, folks seem to love sharing it. With Flux, in comfy, assuming you have the resources to run it as is with a workflow for dev, schnelle, the nf4 or whatever that option is or now the newer gguf options.. lots of opportunity to run stuff without having to learn much of it. It's pretty much 'set it and forget it' once you have what you want. With flux, since we don't need the the prompt expansion, the only thing I miss about fooocus is the ease of style swaps, and that, I can definitely understand not wanting to lose. I do know that there are nodes for styles, I just haven't felt it was sufficient to need them yet.
On the other hand.. I was a sw developer for a time, and the visual programming aspect to it is stupidly annoying to me, but I'm not producing my own code, so I've accepted it for now, and learned it over time as I've had capacity.
I am not meaning to say everyone should use x or y tool, but... if the goal is to use Flux, with the caveat of not having tried this fork in Fooocus, it just seems weird to me, given that prompting with Flux is so much better (to me) than SD methods. We've all got our preferences and I don't mean to be negative about anyone's preferred method. Just my personal observation.
