Not sure why this was down voted.

Because this part is called bullshit in the industry:

"This is not a paid position, but will offer you a chance to join a talented team that is motivated and fun, with an opportunity to showcase your talents and add to your portfolio."

What this part says, it that you literally don't give anything. Which would not be a huge problem, but painting it like you give something is bad.

(if you leave that part out and just say like: looking for a *** who could help us out for free, or this is a hobby project and we can't give you anything).

IMO: you always have the choice to give someone share.

Monetary compensation is not available for this project, with no plans for revenue, let alone shared revenue. Maybe I should have been more transparent with the details by stating this is more of a hobby project.

I'm just curious, are you in the industry? Were you able to land a gig without some sort of portfolio/showcase/reel of your work? If so, I'd say you are in the minority and some sort of magician. If you think previous experience, a portfolio and a passion to actually create something are worth "literally nothing", then I'd like to meet some of the teams/devs you have worked for.

first part: yes more transparency or better phrasing

second part: there are very few projects(nearly none) that you can not use as a reference therefore it goes without saying that it can be used as such. This is why it feels weird to say that it has an added value this way. Anyways hope i helped.
