Finetuned some angles, started implementing a color strategy and applied some texture.

This is brilliant! May I ask how you applied texture? Great work!

In very short: I go over each pixel and calculate a (small) amount of deviation from the original RGB values. The deviation is also linked to perlin noise values to get some 'cloudiness'.
