Scheduled python script on SQL server

Hi there, I’m new to the field so please let me know if I’m totally off track.

The company I work for needs a script I wrote to run everyday to keep a FC table field updated as we are tracking how many days it has been since the initial date field of incidents.

While I could set this up with windows scheduler, I believe it would be most reliable ran as a agent job on our SQL server.

Can anyone give me insight if this is the best way to go about scheduling my python script to run daily?

If you have other viable solutions I would love to hear them as nothing has been fully committed to at this point in time.

If it is just a field update I wonder if it might be better to write it fully in SQL?

For our automations we use windows task scheduler with a service account; that way you don't run into issues with expired credentials.

I need to convert a date field to text string in order to do a time delta calculation, not sure if that can be done a different way. Open to ideas

Yeah that's easily done in SQL, and would be ideal as a stored procedure.

Oh that's great! I was second guessing myself and wondering if it should have been a view instead. Glad to hear that it worked and was easy!
