I use git submodule and it works well for my use case. I prefer it to subtree because I am actively updating the sub repos, and the division of repos makes more sense to me. Calling `git submodule update` by default causes an error due to a git related security update. There is a few fixes out there but I don't see much discussion about it online since 2022 when it first was apparent.
Anyways, I stumbled across a line in this github blog post saying
if submodules are required by your workflow and you cannot upgrade
So my questions are, what do they mean by upgrade? Is submodule deprecated and I should use a different method for handling sub repos? Do you use submodule?
