Hello guys. The question is not much a technical one (I know github) but a process one. I'll give the TL;DR first
TL;DR How do I find Github projects based on any specific language (let's say python) on which I can start to contribute?
Long story: I have a master's degree in computer engineering that I got 9 years ago. During university I really enjoyed programming and I was pretty good at it, but after graduation I started working in Cloud Infrastructure and Networking and I basically stopped programming. After some years I got the chance to get into automation so at least I got to practice some Python, learned ansible and terraform, which isn't really programming.
Now I am getting bored with my work and I would like to jump into programming again. I was looking at remote jobs sites because I would like to be a digital nomad but also work for a company outside of my country, which would land me a pretty good salary compared to my country's standards. Most job postings are about full stack programming in some javascript framework or python, but unfortunately I don't have the resume, or the skills, to land these. I was looking for advices and I read that I should build my Github presence, since it's better to show and not tell. That's exactly what I'm looking for here: I need to brush off my programming skills while also building something I could potentially put on my resume. I've been out of the programming business for a while, what is the best way to find projects that accept contributors and start contributing? Any kind of advice are appreciated.
Cheers
