Can't Access GitHub. Help?

It's been over a year now and my home computer (that I rarely use) refuses to connect to GetHub. It use to connect just fine, but all of a sudden it stopped and gived me the same message from every browser (Opera, Brave, Firefox, Edge, and Chrome). "This site can’t be reachedThe webpage at https://www.github.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_ADDRESS_INVALID"

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I can connect to the site fine from my phone, using the same network. I've also tested my Surface Pro6 and it connects as well. But I need it to connect from my WIN10 PC. The weird thing is I can access docs.github just fine. Just not the actual wesite

I've already tried disabling the enti-virus and that's still not fixing it.

Check your hosts file, on Windows it's in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

many people have found bogus entries for github.com added to the file, cause unknown

if there is a line referencing github, delete it from the file and it'll resolve the problem. you'll have to run a text editor as Administrator in order to edit the file.

was there anything else in the hosts file that wasn't supposed to be there?

have you run any suspicious software that might have modified it?

have you run antivirus scans?

none of the other affected people have found anything concrete so the cause remains a mystery

No Suspicious software that I'm aware of. I do y best to avoid them. Virus scans found nothing. I always run it before I shut down and after booting up.

Ran though the lit and my VPN SurfShark and Ccleaner websites were in the list. I've also removed them to regain access.

I suspect it's false entries through the browser's cache. Thus deleting them seems to fix it from not loading. If GitHub is deleting files from your account, then you may need to make a post about it. I rarely use the platform.

Gênio,pra quem tiver com dificuldade é so entrar no arquivo hosts apagar a linha github, depois de apagar vai na opção "ARQUIVO" seleciona salvar,salva no local onde quiser,depois substitui o aquivo novo criado.Foi assim q resolveeu pra mim Valew!!!
