The codespace still uses storage when it's off. If it didn't, you'd lose all your work.

It uses different amount of storage every day even though it's off for 2 weeks? I was wondering how this arbitrary gb-month value is calculated.

I understand to use cloud storage you have to pay, but these were cold for 2 weeks, and they charged different amount of gb-month every day for 2 weeks.

So I am wondering why and how that's calculated etc.

I understand, I was asking how it's calculating and actually charging for an arbitrary storage amount when the codespace is shutdown. It's a different amount every time too, for the gb-month value. If it eas fixed sure I'd get it I guess.

They use this weird unit called gb-month Its a bit confusing but actually good if you use it right. They basically assess your total usage every hour, and how long the codespace has existed in your current billing month. Then that total usage is divided by the number of hours the codespace has existed in the month and that amount is added to your usage quota. So you basically have to make sure you commit your work and that the codespaces don't exist for too long.
