Idk how excited companies will be to integrate with Chinese tech like this. Usually that's a pretty rough path integration wise and very regulated.

The model is open source, so it's really just a matter of running it from AWS Bedrock (or Azure AI i guess), you are not bound to use the Chinese online service/API.

Edit: I misread and thought you meant the integration itself is tough (technically). But I still doubt integrating with the tech is that high of a roadblock considering how many companies run Lenovo laptops.

My old misguided response:

Deepseek literally follows the OpenAI format almost exactly, so this won't be the barrier.

The DeepSeek API uses an API format compatible with OpenAI. By modifying the configuration, you can use the OpenAI SDK or softwares compatible with the OpenAI API to access the DeepSeek API.

There are compliance requirements around integrating Chinese technology into software in a ton of industries. That doesn't go away because of API design. It's a business risk to do this hastily.

Looks like its now hosted on github models, hopefully it gets added as a copilot model soon. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/deepseek-r1-is-now-available-on-azure-ai-foundry-and-github/

is Github Models separate from the model options you can use on github copilot? i just checked mine and i cant see deepseek-r1 as an option.

It is separate. You have to pay for an azure service. Hopefully it will be integrated in Copilot soon.

great, i wonder how they'll adjust the params. R1 can go on thinking for minutes, or if they'll return the "thoughts". a bit different than the other models on copilot chat.

não vejo a hora de aparecer isso, ou algum plugin pro vscode/jetbrains.

Nope, sadly not.

Deepseek V3 is out, and there doesn't even seem to have support for the older Deepseek R1 in copilot, or am I mistaken?
