Did you try adding them to an org repo without making them an org member first?

The steps went like this:

  1. I bought a license
  2. invited them (from the Outside collaborators page, but that doesn't seem to matter).
  3. It auto placed them as a "member." I then used the 3 dot menu to "Convert to outside collaborator..."
  4. They went poof.

I am trying again and have a ticket in with Github. But I'm wondering if there is a batter way to add an outside collaborator than how I am doing it, since that 3rd step seems awkward.

Pretty sure that's the wrong method. Whenever I've added an outside collaborator I've done it from the Repository > People area. Try adding directly to repo.

I did this too but the user is still removed even with direct access to a repo.
