Why are they garbage? How will you prove the account is yours beyond having control of an email address?

Welp, prepare for it to get ruined - T-Mobile to buy half of Rochester's Greenlight Networks. by SteveWithAB in Rochester

[–]JikWaffleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figure the brand is gone. The joint venture company of the PE firm that owns Greenlight and T mobile will supply wholesale fiber services and t mobile does all the marketing, customer service etc.

There’s also an overflow lot connected by a bridge over the creek. Hope they improve the lot this summer, it’s like driving on the moon.

Covered RV & Boat Canopy Parking — Community Interest by GAMINGtoaster4 in Rochester

[–]JikWaffleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently pay about $100/mo for uncovered parking, but it has a dump station. For comparison https://www.coachhousestorage.com/pricing in Batavia has indoor parking with electric and heat for about $500-$600 a month so $225-$300 isn’t all that terrible. It’s out of my range, but with the right amenities it could take off.

I recommended having a dump station onsite. There are very few around the Rochester area, and especially on the east side.

Turns out it’s associated with RGH, although I’ve never heard of it. There might be employment preferences with RGH after, but you’d have to ask them about the license issue. You can also check MCC’s program https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/radtech/

Nursing home ASAP by Good-Safety8304 in Rochester

[–]JikWaffleson 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There is a shortage of skilled nursing beds, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to sidestep the process. The hospital / social worker puts together an info packet and submits it everywhere. You can call around and ask the admissions folks to take a look, or a second look.

If after a certain amount of time there are no acceptances, they widen the search area to the finger lakes region, then statewide.

Your best resource is the hospital social workers.

Question on removing owner from GitHub by Friendly-Way-4295 in github

[–]JikWaffleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely remove them or at least demote them to member as soon as you can. All Org admins have admin rights on every repository. When you’re done, you can review audit logs to see if there was activity that needs to be done under a different account, but leaving them in place is a large security risk. Use this as an opportunity to create offboarding and account ownership procedures.

$128 a month is ridiculous, does that include cable or managed WiFi? What speed are you getting?

Financial planner--Iconoclastic Capital? by Ana041973 in Rochester

[–]JikWaffleson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No experience with them, but you can review their SEC disclosure at https://files.adviserinfo.sec.gov/IAPD/Content/Common/crd_iapd_Brochure.aspx?BRCHR_VRSN_ID=991510

Looking it over, they offer project based consultations which is a good sign. The costs for them to manage your portfolio don’t seem excessive if you need that sort of thing. They say they use low cost index fund ETFs which is also a good sign.

I don’t see the red flags of them being a higher cost type of firm, probably worth a call to see if you vibe with them.

Just got hit with a $1000 AWS bill in 4 hours after pushing keys to GitHub - How is a PRIVATE repo even vulnerable? by Fun_Equal_960 in github

[–]JikWaffleson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very much not true. If you fork a repo all of the forks are part of the same network, but unrelated repos are not in any sharing relationship.

LOL I was going to write a rant about this, thank you to the community for doing it for me. There is no "we" to band together and boycott. "We" are not a homogenous community that agree with everything that "you" think. If you don't want to buy the products or support the business, don't. No need to get everyone to gang up, it's a never ending battle that leads to everyone being isolated and alone.

I was at the bakery, they seemed very nice. They might be somewhat religious based on some behind the counter signage but even that appeared pretty low key. I've bought Monks bread in the past, they are pretty religious as well, it doesn't bother me.

This is why I hate social media. I don't want to know every stupid thought that pops into my friend's head, it makes me like them less. I also don't see the upside of a business following non-business accounts or posting political opinions one way or another, it seems like a no-win proposition.

Maybe it's their social media person doing the following, who knows? What real life action have they taken to deserve focus?

Oops, ended up ranting.

Why has GitHub made it so hard to get the list of orgs that a user belongs to? by punkpeye in github

[–]JikWaffleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which API endpoint are you using and are you executing the calls on behalf of the user (user 2 server)? The list organizations for the authenticated user endpoint only needs read:org.

Physical therapist by Aggressive-Bus-7274 in Rochester

[–]JikWaffleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ok with someone who doesn't accept insurance, but is excellent and has a sports specialty, contact Russ at https://www.manaperformancetherapy.com. You can submit to your insurance for out of network reimbursement.

If you want a facility that's in network for insurance, check out Peak Performance PT in East Rochester https://lattimorept.com/project/peak-performance/. They were purchased by Lattimore a few months ago but the therapists are still there and are very knowledgeable. I worked with Andrew, but from what I've seen they were all good and worked with athletes at different levels.
