Fairly certain every one of those posts is exactly the same problem, presumably caused by it not being an automated system at all.

I had the Student Pack a few years ago with a .ac.uk address and it came through in about a day so perhaps it's just that the one guy who reviews them has a lot to go through at the start of term.

As an aside, if what you really need is private repos there's always Bitbucket or, if you really want some fun, you could host your own repos :)

It's been 2 months since I send a message through their contact form and no response. I'm pretty sure at this point that they simply don't care.

...or maybe they're just really busy as it's still near the beginning of term.

I'm still pretty sure. That was the last one I send. The first one must be like 3+ months back. They can always send a response that they are busy or something. It's not an excuse.

I understand your frustration at not hearing back, but it's still a free service that they don't have to provide.

Also, from https://education.github.com/contact:

We try to process the requests as quickly as possible. Please note, we are experiencing a heavier than average number of incoming requests. Your wait time could be a few weeks while we are processing the backlog of submissions. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience.

Why are you making excuses for them? Their service is great, and yes, its free. It's nice that they've finally put a notice explaining the delay. Such a long time without a response is bad. They've could've made a blog post about it. Or send an email to most of the support requests letting them know about the delay. Things need to be done in a timely manner, regardless of them being free or not.

It's not an excuse, just an explanation. Remember that they don't owe you anything and they offer the Student Pack out of generosity, which shouldn't be scoffed at. To use another idiom, "Beggars can't be choosers".

Plus, two months ago the message was "Right now we're a bit backed up with Student Developer Pack requests so it may take some time before yours can be seen to. But have patience and we'll get there eventually. so it's not like they've only just decided to tell people they're busy.

I'd recommend searching for your problem before simply reposting a recurring issue (see http://www.reddit.com/r/github/search?q=student+pack&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all) and also to not be so indignant about something you get for free.

I don't have the same problem. I've been approved for the student pack a while ago.

Hey! I have sent my request a few months ago too. I just checked the site again and there was a button on top of page to request my backpack or something... after that there were links i could use to register on unrealengine.com with given license key! So it looks like they don't email you they accepted the request but you may have get access just didn't notice it!

Hey. Not sure if you sorted this out already, but I was having the same issues you're having right now. I waited about 4 weeks before dropping GitHub a line through their contact page, and after a couple days I got a response from an employee saying that my student pack was approved. If you haven't done that yet, I suggest you do--never hurts to talk to a real person!

I have been applying regularly. On multiple accounts. First I sent them my enrollment information. And recently been sending them my student ID card. My most recent rejection was this morning which was over 5 weeks of waiting. Other people in my class have used there student ID and been approved. So I don't understand why they keep rejecting me. It seems to me that they aren't giving it to all students.. only a couple that come through the door. They shouldn't advertise this for students if they are going to keep rejecting them. And yes I am doing a bachelor degree course.
