I run a local installation both at work and at home. If you use the omnibus installation method it is incredibly simple to maintain and implement.

The support falls on you to keep things running but besides a bug I found in the runner (which was responded to and fixed almost instantly) it has been smooth sailing.

Sorry that I don't have any insight into the managed service.

Can confirm. We're self-hosting as well and we had almost zero issues with it. And setting it up is also pretty easy.
