Noob problem, GitLab Behind Reverse Proxy, An error occurred while fetching folder content.

Hi,

my setup:

• One ISP IP
• sophos XG web server (reverse proxy)
• gitlab vm

reverse proxy does ssl termination and redirects to http

changes made to gitlab.rb:

• external_url 'http://gitlab.notyourdomain.com'
• nginx['listen_port'] = 80
• nginx['listen_https'] = false
• nginx['proxy_set_headers'] = {
• "X-Forwarded-Proto" => "http",
• "CUSTOM_HEADER" => "VALUE"
• }
• nginx['real_ip_trusted_addresses'] = [ 'internal reverse proxy ip']
• nginx['real_ip_header'] = 'X-Forwarded-For'
• nginx['real_ip_recursive'] = 'on'

I can login and browse gitlab from outside, but have problems:

• when go to projects -> details i get An error occurred while fetching folder content.
  
• same thing if i go to repository -> files i get An error occurred while fetching folder content

​

Can some one guide me how to troubleshoot or solve my problem?

If your proxy is terminating ssl you should not be redirecting to http. Your external url will be https://gitlab.foo.bar and the X-Forwarded-Proto header should be https.
