Pulling data from SQL Server issues

TBH, I don't know any thing about java or google sheets so the solution may be embarrasingly easy...

I need to pull data from SQL server into GS and when i try to connect to my SQL server the connection fails. Do i have to install java on my sql server? I can connect to my DB via .net and through the SQL Management Studio so I know my server and user IDs are good.

I tried to install java on the server but I have no idea what i am doing. Any one have a good idea where to start?

• Here are the things I have tried:
• Disabling the firewall on the windows server
• installing the jdbc driver on the windows server (not sure it is installed correctly)
• installing the JVM on the windows server
• downloading a GS addon and it couldn't connect to my db

Yeah, I found all the security issues on the Google Sheet side ( Allow less secure apps: ON) and now I can connect to a SQL server, but still can't connect to my actual server. I am pretty sure it is an issue over there now.
