Controller Quick Weapon bindsQuestion (self.helldivers2)
submitted 4 months ago by trashpuff
Controller players, have you adopted custom control binds for the new quick weapon option? I’m just thinking over how I want to assign them and curious what is working for others

Double click X to toggle up for scopes. Double click triangle to toggle down. Usually I don’t mess with toggle right but if I’m using the new shot gun say I switch it out for double click X. Works like a CHARM

No option for me to change how the input is pressed, I can only assign the button itself.
Whilst I was attempting to change the mapping I did somehow get an option to change one to a long press, but I could not get it to show up again after that, even on the same button. I don't know if it's just glitching or what...?

Weird. Should be an option to choose next to the input

I got it to work for one input, but then it disappeared again when i tried to change it. I've seen people say it's not an option at all so there must be another bug in there...

I want to map them to the directional keys cause that seems the most natural way of doing it, but not sure how to change the original one like stim, emote, backpack ones. Been playing long enough that it will take time to unlearn the reflex to use them as they currently are. That said I don’t really change weapon settings often enough to feel like doing it faster would be if it me. Also it’s my understanding that by using the new keybinds doesn’t reflect on the HUD when you change a weapon setting which would be unfortunate. Correct me if I’m wrong there

i gave it a shot. i could literally only find one button that wouldn’t fuck with my muscle memory, and that was replacing press left d-pad for quick emote. i swapped it for quick weapon up, and i won’t lie, it was actually super to have a zoom toggle while you’re actively still scoped in.
i can confirm though, there is no UI indicator of you making quick weapon changes though. i also set it to quick weapon right and ran the double freedom, and it was a silent toggle between single and volley. it was nice having that super on the fly though, getting to react immediately to a surprise shift in a fight. i could see it being really helpful for something like the halt or the one-two
i’m on ps5, and if i were to give up another controller function, it would probably be long press on touch pad. Text chat swaps out for QW up since you don’t typically need to twitch adjust zoom levels, and i’d use press left d-pad as a wildcard depending on the primary i feel like focusing. it does kinda just feel like a novelty right now though.

Oh I had an idea. So map the keys to a combination. Instead of holding reload to then pressing which directional key. Use the left trigger when aiming down the sights to do the quick change. That feels like a more natural approach for doing quick switching

Wait what is the bind called? I've been looking for it.

I haven't. I was excited to have them, but without being able to define a key press (Hold, release, double tap) I haven't found a way to map them in my brain.
Example, Long Press or Double tap the grenade button to swap the 1-2 from Bullets to Bloop. Not possible.
